Jamar Champ, Estranged Husband of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood’ Star Masika Kalysha, Dies in Car Crash
Jamar Champ died after a BMW drove the wrong way on Houston's Katy Freeway, causing a fatal head-on crash that also killed the BMW driver, police said.
- On Tuesday, Oct. 28, Jamar Champ was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead after a crash on West Interstate Highway 10, HPD said.
- A silver BMW was traveling westbound in eastbound lanes on the 6600 Katy Freeway when it struck Champ’s Tesla Cybertruck head-on, then caught fire as the Cybertruck collided with a blue Freightliner 18-wheeler.
- Kalysha, the reality star, said in an Instagram video, `I am in shambles please respect my family and my children at this time`; she and Jamar Champ married in 2021, separated two years later, and share 3-year-old Amari.
- Police said the driver of the BMW died at the scene, the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured, and the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division will conduct an autopsy to determine possible impairment.
- Officials have not released the BMW driver's identity and it is not known why the vehicle was traveling the wrong way, while Jamar Champ was formerly a football player at North Dakota State University.
