New restrictions on rare earth sales are hitting European weapons manufacturers hard.

The European Union is preparing a series of emergency measures to limit the impact of China's restrictions on rare earths, materials that are obviously essential for the electric transition of the sector. Representatives of major groups such as Volkswagen, Stellantis and Forvia took part in a crisis meeting organised by Stéphane Séjourné, Vice-President of the European Commission, alongside actors in aeronautics, energy and chemistry.

From cars and computer chips to tanks and combat jets, the new restrictions are to export or China represents a considerable effort to control the global race and trigger a renewed trade dispute that only the United States is against, but also against, Europe. Read more (10/20/2025
