- Legal back-and-forth over the 9th Circuit's decisions led to a dismissal last year after a panel found a ban unconstitutional, but the ruling was vacated soon and San Diego federal prosecutors re-filed charges.
- He is set to be sentenced on November 21, with prosecutors recommending 24 months imprisonment though the charge carries a maximum 15-year penalty; Meghan Blanco, Hatch's defense attorney, said, `I am optimistic for Mr. Hatch`.
