The philosopher was prosecuted for insulting La France insoumée which he had described in a tweet as "a passionately anti-Semitic movement".
The case dates back to May 2024, when the philosopher Raphaël Enthoven had published on X (ex-Twitter) a message in which he called La France insoumise a "detestable, violent, conspiracyist, passionately anti-Semitic movement." "These remarks did not exceed the permissible limits of freedom of expression," the judges said, noting that they "were in the wake of a "major public interest debate".
