PayPal Launches PYUSDx After $100M Milestone
Saturn, Concrete and Cap are the first projects on the platform, and the companies said they have processed more than $100 million at launch.
- On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, PayPal and MoonPay launched the PYUSDx framework, an infrastructure platform enabling businesses to issue custom stablecoins backed by PayPal USD with three initial projects—Saturn, Concrete, and Cap.
- PYUSDx allows businesses to create application-specific stablecoins backed by PayPal USD without building separate issuance systems. MoonPay provides distribution and onboarding services while PayPal supplies the underlying reserve asset connection.
- The companies reported that the three initial projects collectively processed more than $100 million in volume at launch. This figure represents processed activity, not platform revenue or assets under management.
- Saturn uses the system for settlement tokens, Concrete for vault infrastructure, and Cap for credit platform assets. These custom tokens cannot be used for payments inside PayPal or Venmo applications.
- Integration plans include Fairblock as a future addition to the PYUSDx platform, though the project has not disclosed a confirmed activation date. Participation remains planned pending regulatory approvals and technical requirements.
