Nasdaq Invests $100M in Kraken Parent at $21B Valuation: Report
The deal deepens a partnership aimed at always-on trading and could help launch Nasdaq Equity Tokens in 2027, the companies said.
On Thursday, Nasdaq's venture arm invested $100 million in Payward, the parent company of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, valuing the firm at $21 billion.
The deal expands Nasdaq's push into tokenized assets, building on a partnership announced in March; Kraken will distribute Nasdaq's tokenized stocks on its platform.
Data compiled by RWA shows the distributed value of tokenized stocks now exceeds $2.9 billion, marking a 7.4% increase over the past month.
In April, Deutsche invested $200 million in Payward to expand blockchain capabilities, aiming to offer a wider array of tokenized investment products.
Earlier this month, Kraken partnered with the London Stock Exchange to launch 24/5 trading of tokenized stocks tracking UK equity products, beginning in 2027.
