He will hold talks with the country's head of state, Emomali Rahmon, as well as with leaders of other former Soviet Union (USSR) countries. Putin is accompanied by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, who visited a Russian military base in Tajikistan on Wednesday. TASR reports this, according to a report by the AP agency.
During its three-day period, the Russian President will meet with the counterpart of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, following a Russian-Asian Central Summit, which will include the participation of leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. On the sixth day, he will join the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus for a wider meeting of the Community of Independent States, an informal alliance of other former Soviet nations.
