A Pune software engineer is accused of killing his three-month pregnant wife after a row over a land purchase. Police say the case stems from a long-running property dispute, with further action subject to his treatment.
In Dehugaon, Pune, 28-year-old Shubhangi, three months pregnant, was stabbed to death by her husband, Akash, with a sharp-edged weapon. Akash then stabbed himself with a blade and jumped from the second floor. He suffered a fractured leg. According to police, the two had been arguing over the purchase of agricultural land.
The husband and wife had been arguing over land they had purchased in the village. In the ensuing dispute, the husband slit his wife's throat with a sharp weapon and then jumped from a two-story house.
