Health Alert Issued for Ground Beef Sold in 5 States and DC

The USDA warns consumers to discard or return 16-ounce White Oak Pastures ground beef after two complaints of metal contamination, with no injuries reported.

  • On March 23, the Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert for 16-ounce packages of White Oak Pastures, Radically Traditional Farming, Grassfed Ground Beef due to potential metal contamination.
  • The agency issued the warning after White Oak Pastures received two consumer complaints reporting metal fragments in the meat. "There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of this product," FSIS said.
  • Affected packages bear establishment number "EST 34729" inside the USDA mark of inspection, with code "105761" and sell-by date "3/19/26" stamped on the vacuum-sealed packaging.
  • While no official recall exists because the product is no longer available for purchase, the agency remains concerned it may be in consumers' freezers. Items were distributed to Mom's Organic Markets in five states and Washington, DC.
  • Consumers should throw away or return the beef to the place of purchase. Questions can be directed to White Oak Pastures processing operations manager Justin Wiley at 229-641-2081 or the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854.
