Protests Could Be ‘Unprecedented’ in L.A.
“With a surge of demonstrations expected on Saturday against the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration, the authorities in Los Angeles said they were bracing for a turnout that ‘may be unprecedented’ in the city that has been epicenter of days of sustained protests,” the New York Times reports.
Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonell said Friday that he expects an "unprecedented" turnout to protest against the Trump administration's immigration policy this Saturday, which has sparked protests in the city for more than a week. "I think a lot of it will depend on social media activity to promote the event. So far, the turnout has been very large. So we're expecting crowds that may be unprecedented," McDonell said at a press conference.
