Production ends at Derbyshire's Denby Pottery after 217 years
Administrators said reduced demand and rising costs squeezed the business financially after a #SaveDenby campaign failed to find an investor.
After 217 years, Denby ended production at its Derbyshire site on Thursday, as the pottery brand officially stopped firing its final pieces.
Reduced demand and escalating employment costs squeezed the business financially, prompting the appointment of FRP Advisory as administrators in March.
The SaveDenby campaign mobilized support from across the country, yet the brand ultimately confirmed it had been unable to secure an investor to continue operations.
International subsidiaries in Korea and China are not in administration and will continue operating as normal, preserving global customer access to Denby products.
Generations of dedicated, skilled people enabled Denby's longevity, and the brand noted its products will remain in homes for years, as they were always made to last.
