Production ends at Derbyshire's Denby Pottery after 217 years
Administrators said reduced demand and rising costs squeezed the business financially after a #SaveDenby campaign failed to find an investor.
Pottery brand Denby ended production at its Derbyshire site after 217 years, with final pieces sent to the kiln on Thursday, June 4.
Reduced demand and escalating employment costs squeezed the business financially, prompting FRP Advisory to assume administrator duties earlier this year as the company sought an investment partner.
The SaveDenby campaign mobilized extensive public support from across the UK and beyond, yet administrators ultimately failed to locate a buyer, forcing the closure.
International subsidiaries in Korea and China remain outside administration and will continue normal operations, ensuring the brand maintains global customer access.
Denby stated that "generations of dedicated, skilled people" sustained the brand through 217 years, adding that its pottery will endure in homes for years ahead.
