Assam Police Can't Go to Singapore to Probe Zubeen Garg's Death: CM Himanta
A judicial commission led by Justice Soumitra Saikia will investigate the suspicious drowning and alleged financial crimes linked to Zubeen Garg's death, amid over 60 FIRs filed.
- Officials at the Assam CID reported the Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax Department have visited and may soon join the probe into alleged financial crimes linked to Shyamkanu Mahanta.
- Initially believed accidental, the case shifted to allegations of poisoning and conspiracy after bandmate Shekharjyoti Goswami accused manager Siddharth Sharma and organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta.
- The Assam Criminal Investigation Department raided Mahanta's home on September 25 and 26, seizing over 60 FIRs, PAN cards, and nearly 30 stamp seals, and arrested four people sent to 14 days of police custody.
- Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, `Now, anyone who wants to speak or provide us any information relating to the mysterious death of Zubeen, they get a platform`, as the one-man judicial commission headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia was formed.
- The CID has issued notices to Assam Association, Singapore members by October 6, while the viscera report is due on October 10 with findings expected October 11.
