Porter announces new daily direct flights between Charlottetown and Montreal
- On Tuesday, Porter Airlines announced new daily seasonal service between Charlottetown and the Montreal Metropolitan Airport at St-Hubert, beginning June 18 and running until September 7.
- Porter Aviation Holdings Inc. and Macquarie Asset Management invested $450 million to build the terminal at St-Hubert to alleviate congestion at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, the region's sole major passenger hub.
- Travelers can park 20 metres from the check-in counter and reach the lounge 15 minutes after parking. Porter Chief Executive Michael Deluce expects the Met to serve four million passengers annually within two years.
- Pascan Aviation will also operate from the facility, which is expected to generate $6 million in annual revenue for the city of Longueuil. Strict night-flight rules ensure minimal disruption for residents.
- Executives compare the Met's potential to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, predicting it will transform Montreal travel. With 138 weekly flights to 12 destinations, the airport positions itself as a competitive alternative to Trudeau's crowded infrastructure.
