More deaths than births, but immigration - according to a new estimate by the Federal Statistical Office, more people are living in Germany than ever before.
The German population will grow by 100,000 to just under 83.6 million people in 2024. Growth is lower than in the previous year. This is due to the significant decline in migration. However, it is the only reason why the population has not been shrinking for years - and Germany is missing even more workers.
