- The Vatican says the meeting follows Pope Leo XIV's recent meeting with Robert De Niro, actor, as the pope seeks deeper dialogue with the World of Cinema on artistic creativity and human values.
- Ahead of the meeting, the Vatican revealed four of the pope's favourite films: It's a Wonderful Life, The Sound of Music, Ordinary People and Life Is Beautiful, while papal events often feature high-ranking Catholic cardinals but rarely include Hollywood stars.
- Inviting entertainers follows a precedent when the late Pope Francis hosted a June 2024 comedians event and Robert De Niro, actor, concluded his 48-hour visit with a Vatican handshake.
