An Ohio man is facing animal cruelty charges after authorities said he tried to kill his dog rather than pay a veterinarian $500 to put him to sleep. Richard Orth, 59, of East Price Hill, was indicted Monday on a charge of cruel treatment of companion animals, according to a press release from the office of Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.
