- Favour, a woman from Warri, traveled to Asaba after Ogbonna invited her under the pretext of mentoring her in content creation, having first contacted him online seeking financial help during personal challenges.
- According to accounts, Ogbonna took the woman to a hotel where he allegedly assaulted her; she later recorded a final video declaring him responsible for her death after using WhatsApp's 24-hour disappearing messages feature.
- Police Public Relations Officer Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, noting it followed a petition filed by human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe.
- The suspect remains in police custody and has allegedly confessed to the crime, while Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi assured the public that all allegations would be thoroughly investigated.
