The Polish Parliament has indicated that the vote has resulted in 413 votes in favour and fifteen against, in addition to three abstentions. Polish Defence Minister Wladislaw Kosiniak Kamisz has stated that this decision is of "vital importance for ensuring the security of the region", especially in a country that shares a border with Russia.
The Polish Sejm has approved a law denouncing the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of the Use of Anti-Personnel Mines.
