Picayune installs Safe Haven Baby Box, awaiting final activation

A Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed at the Picayune Fire Department’s Central Fire Station, providing parents in crisis with a safe and anonymous option to legally surrender a newborn once the device becomes operational.  The box is not yet available for use because the required alarm system is still being installed, according to Libby Garcia, chairwoman of the Pearl River County Republican Women.
