Penguins GM Kyle Dubas Says the Club Would 'Love' to Have Evgeni Malkin Return Next Season
On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas said the club would 'love' to have Evgeni Malkin return for a 21st season next winter.
Malkin is scheduled to become a free agent for the first time in July and turns 40 in August, having expressed a preference to remain with the only franchise he has known.
The Russian star finished with 19 goals and 42 assists in 56 games this season, demonstrating resiliency despite missing 20 games due to injury and five more due to suspension.
While Malkin, Sidney Crosby, and Kris Letang have played together for two decades, Pittsburgh faces a significant gap compared to top contenders following a first-round loss to Philadelphia.
Under first-year head coach Dan Muse, the Pittsburgh Penguins reached the postseason, though significant work remains before training camp begins in September.
