Pittsburgh Penguins Keep Ruck Twins Together at NHL Draft
The Penguins used 17 picks over 12 hours to reunite Liam and Markus Ruck, who ranked first and second in WHL scoring.
On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Penguins selected Markus Ruck 39th overall in the NHL Draft at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, reuniting him with twin brother Liam Ruck, who was drafted 22nd overall on Friday.
The 18-year-old linemates spent time with the Western Hockey League's Medicine Hat Tigers, finishing 1-2 in scoring this season with Markus leading all Canadian Hockey League skaters in points.
Last week in Toronto, Markus tallied 21 goals to receive the CHL's top scorer award, while Liam, a winger, also had a banner season during his time with the Tigers.
The Rucks are slated to play one more Western Hockey League campaign with Medicine Hat before the brothers plan to join the University of North Dakota program in 2027-28.
It took 17 draft picks and 12 hours for the organization to bring the brothers together, fulfilling a shared dream the Osoyoos products have held since first lacing up their skates.
