Peloton Goes All in on AI in Product Relaunch

Peloton IQ uses AI and computer vision to provide personalized feedback and workout plans, with over 2,000 new classes added and prices increased for hardware and memberships.

  • On October 1, Peloton unveiled a sweeping relaunch focused on artificial intelligence and a Cross Training series of five devices, staging its biggest launch in years.
  • Facing a more than 90% stock decline, Peloton laid off about 6% of workforce last month and under CEO Peter Stern is refocusing after refinancing debt.
  • The AI feature, Peloton IQ, uses built-in cameras to analyze form, count reps and suggest weights, while Plus models add a 360-degree swivel screen, upgraded speakers and hands-free voice control.
  • Membership and hardware prices rose, with All-Access at $49.99 and the Cross Training Bike at $1,695; shares jumped more than 5% in premarket trading and products are on sale online and at select retailers.
  • Peloton is betting its commercial unit and Precor tie-up will expand equipment in hotels, universities and small gyms as lead channels, with Natalia Mehlman Petrzela saying it's "definitely thinking about how to integrate AI into their offerings.
