Crossing guard hit, killed near Layton elementary school

A crossing guard died after being hit by a car Tuesday morning near the intersection of 1600 North and Main in Layton, according to police.

Pedestrian hit, killed in Richmond Co. Monday morning

AUGUSTA, GA. (WJBF) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office responded to the 800 Block of Bennock Mill Road in reference to a pedestrian fatality Monday morning. 68-year-old Dan Benjamin Sheffield of Bennock Mill Road was hit by a vehicle and killed. Sheffield was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:00 a.m. This is a developing story.
