Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan underwent surgery on Saturday evening, confirmed by Political Secretary P Hariprasad after the Janasena Party chief experienced health issues for several months.
While holding administrative meetings on Friday, Kalyan experienced severe discomfort, prompting him to cancel engagements and seek medical evaluation including an MRI scan before doctors recommended surgical intervention.
Doctors successfully performed the procedure on Saturday and reported Kalyan's condition as stable, advising him to take one week to 10 days of rest before resuming official duties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Deputy Chief Minister on Sunday, writing on X: "He is remarkably courageous, and I am sure he will recover very soon."
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Governor S Abdul Nazeer issued support messages, with Naidu posting: "Sending my best wishes to Pawan Kalyan Garu for a speedy recovery following his surgery.
