Beatles Great Sir Paul McCartney Extends Chart Record
The album also led vinyl and independent record store sales, extending McCartney’s record as the UK’s most successful albums act.
Sir Paul McCartney topped the UK Albums Chart with The Boys of Dungeon Lane, marking his 24th number one album and extending his record as the most successful albums artist.
The 83-year-old icon's total spans more than six decades and includes 15 number one LPs with The Beatles, two with Wings, six solo projects, and one with Linda McCartney.
Official Charts Company directors Becca Monahan and Chris Austin called the achievement 'truly deserved,' noting the album also topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and Official Record Store Chart.
Appearing on TikTok live, McCartney explained the milestone is 'phenomenal,' recalling he expected his musical success to last five years, not decades.
Elsewhere in the charts, Boards of Canada debuted at number three with Inferno, Ariana Grande captured the number one singles spot, and the 1983 track Billie Jean by Michael Jackson sits at number five.
