Patrick O'Donovan hospitalised in Brussels
The minister became unwell during Ireland’s EU presidency meetings and remains under close medical observation, a spokeswoman said.
On Tuesday, Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications, Media and Sport Patrick O'Donovan was hospitalized in Brussels after becoming unwell. He remains under close medical observation, a spokeswoman confirmed.
O'Donovan was in Brussels to introduce a concert at Le Flagey cultural centre, one of three flagship projects commissioned by Culture Ireland for Ireland's presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Limerick TD previously revealed a diagnosis of epilepsy more than 10 years ago, noting his photosensitivity can translate into the condition. He has previously described struggling with violent episodes during his political career.
Fine Gael leader Simon Harris confirmed he remains "in close contact" with the minister's family, with his thoughts and those of the entire Fine Gael family with Patrick and his family. A spokeswoman requested privacy during medical care.
Officials stated there will be no further comment at this time regarding the minister's health. The Fine Gael politician has previously served in various cabinet roles, including transport, finance, and tourism.
