— OPINION — With no fanfare after 89 reported sick, the FDA has closed its investigation into a romaine lettuce E. coli outbreak without telling the public more and the CDC continues to remain mum. The Food and Drug Administration is continuing to investigate several outbreaks of foodborne illnesses and has closed its investigation into an E. coli O157:H7 outbreak. For an outbreak of infections from Listeria monocytogenes, the agency reports that the patient count has increased to 37, up from 34 reported a week ago.
