Parliamentary Panel Members Grill Top NTA Officials over NEET Paper Leak
NTA officials told lawmakers a fresh question paper is being prepared for the June 21 exam as the Central Bureau of Investigation probes the alleged leak.
On Thursday, the parliamentary Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports, headed by Congress MP Digvijaya Singh, met to discuss an "update on investigation" into the NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak and review National Testing Agency reforms.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's remarks about the Committee sparked political tension, prompting Congress Rajya Sabha chief whip Jairam Ramesh to move a privilege notice Monday alleging the minister lowered Parliament's dignity.
The NTA Director General denied the entire paper was leaked, stating only a few questions surfaced before cancellation, while confirming work is underway to prepare a fresh question paper for the June 21 examination as the Central Bureau of Investigation investigates.
Beyond the leak investigation, the Committee will review the impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education and strategies to maximize student employability, while adopting reports on the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the National Council for Teacher Education.
Following the June 21 examination, discussions on reforming the examination system will address prevention of future incidents, with the NTA prioritizing smooth conduct of the upcoming exam to ensure its completion.
