Parish Government 'Shuts Down' Due To Ordinance Limiting Administration's Spending

On Thursday, July 17, the Plaquemines Parish Government (PPG) experienced something of a “government shutdown.” According to comments from parish president Keith Hinkley and council members, departments within PPG stopped a significant portion of their operations due to the administration sending out an order saying that the government could not process purchase orders, buy fuel or other necessary materials, and generally could not spend money.
