Panera Launches Its Own Value Menu to Compete with Fast Food Deals
Panera's new menu offers half-size portions of popular items at about $5 each to attract budget-conscious customers amid industry-wide spending declines.
On Wednesday, Panera Bread announced a 10-item Mix & Match value menu priced at $4.99 each, available in stores, via the Panera app and PaneraBread.com, with a minimum purchase of two items and a choice of side.
To win back price-conscious diners, Panera Bread launched the Mix & Match menu amid weaker consumer spending and a 5% 2024 sales decline, reinvesting to reverse traffic drops.
The menu includes three half sandwiches like Toasted Italiano, four half salads including Fuji Apple Chicken, three soup cups and a rotating seasonal item, with company executives affirming 'thoughtfully sourced' ingredients.
Panera will run the new Mix & Match menu alongside You Pick Two, and company executives expect strong guest reaction and incremental visits with seasonal menu rotation throughout the year.
Restaurant data show about 3 out of every 4 diners say daily specials or value promotions influence where they dine, amid competitors offering value options like Taco Bell's $3 Luxe Value and Wendy's $4 Biggie Deals.
