Palestinian Teen Footballer Dies After Being Shot During Settler Attack

- On Saturday, 17-year-old Palestinian footballer Fadi Hamdallah al-Nassan died from injuries sustained during an attack by Israeli settlers in the West Bank on July 11.
- The Palestine Football Association accused Israeli forces of shooting al-Nassan in the thigh during the settler attack, which also injured a 10-year-old boy and two other residents with rubber bullets and a stun grenade.
- According to an AFP tally, Israeli soldiers or settlers have killed at least 1,088 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023, while 46 Israelis have died in attacks or operations.
- Dozens of mourners carried al-Nassan from the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah to his village for burial. His mother, Hanan al-Nassan, remembered him as a good student who loved football.
- Earlier this week, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the security cabinet approved $434 million to establish 34 new settlements in the West Bank, which most countries view as illegal under international conventions.
