Foster father John van den B. believes a "one-sided picture" has emerged of the atrocities that took place in his Vlaardingen home. He and his wife Daisy W. are suspected of abusing four foster children. They will no longer be prosecuted for the attempted manslaughter of their 10-year-old foster daughter, as there is no hard evidence. "But due to her brain injury, she functions at the level of a toddler," the Public Prosecution Service stated.
Daisy W. and Johnny van den B., the foster parents of the Vlaardingen foster girl, are both considered to have diminished responsibility. Experts from the Pieter Baan Center consider compulsory psychiatric treatment "the only realistic option" for both of them.
