Pakistan cargo crash families push for international help to find black boxes
Families say an underwater recovery could reveal whether a reported navigation fault and a replaced inertial reference unit contributed to the crash.
Relatives of the five crew members on the Boeing 737 cargo plane that crashed into the Arabian Sea are urging for an international search to recover the flight recorders located about 3,000 meters deep to determine the cause of the crash.
The plane reported a navigational system issue shortly before it rapidly descended from 36,550 feet and lost communication, with debris found but black boxes remaining underwater.
The plane had a replacement inertial reference unit installed before the flight, but it remains unclear if this contributed to the crash, with similar malfunctions noted in previous incidents.
Pakistan has not publicly updated the search or sought foreign assistance despite relatives calling for transparency and international support.
