Omar says she won’t ‘be silenced’ by search of her home and blasts Trump’s ‘intimidation’ campaign
- On Monday, federal authorities executed a search warrant on the Washington home of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation conducted by the Department of Homeland Security.
- Investigators are reportedly probing paperwork completed by Omar's father when she was a child to determine immigration status. The Minnesota Democratic Rep arrived as a refugee from Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000.
- Congresswoman Omar condemned the raid as "an outrageous abuse of power" and a "sham," while the House Democratic caucus called it "deeply disturbing" and raised concerns about weaponization of federal law enforcement.
- President Donald Trump told reporters he has "nothing to do with" the investigation while attacking Omar as a "terrible person." Meanwhile, Omar continues her reelection campaign in Minnesota, where 127,000 votes have already been cast.
- Omar characterized the investigation as part of a "fascist playbook" designed to rile up supporters ahead of the midterms, while critics argue the probe serves as a distraction from policy failures.
