Oklahoma to add padding to brick wall around field after injury to receiver Keontez Lewis
Oklahoma will add padding to the brick wall at Owen Field after receiver Keontez Lewis sustained a head injury running into it during a game on Oct. 4.
- On Oct. 4, Keontez Lewis, Oklahoma receiver, ran headfirst into a brick wall at Owen Field and was injured, leaving the game on a stretcher for testing.
- The stadium's brick wall, largely unpadded and close to the boundaries, combined with a slightly overthrown pass from Michael Hawkins Jr., carried Lewis into the back of the end zone wall.
- Lewis was briefly motionless and then carted off after about 10 minutes of on-field attention; his X-rays were negative and coaches said he is feeling better.
- Venables said Tuesday that specifics are not yet settled and `I don't know exactly when or how much and all of that`, adding he was `terrified` by the play but Lewis is improving.
- Ahead of the October 25, 2025, Sooners' next home game, the Oklahoma Sooners program confirmed plans to install padding to the brick wall around Owen Field.
