Wednesday, March 25, 2026Custer County Emergency Management Director Hardy Sperle issued an emergency alert Wednesday afternoon about a wildfire located 3.5 miles south of Butler and spreading rapidly to the north. This area is in immediate danger from wildfires, which can cause injury/death in addition to threatening homes and other structures. Cornerstone Church located at 1900 Lexington Ave. in Clinton has been set up as an evacuation center.
