Officials say man dies after jumping overboard on Carnival Liberty cruise ship
Carnival said crew searched for the guest and recovered him from the water, but he did not survive.
On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, a male passenger died after jumping overboard from the Carnival Liberty cruise ship as it sailed from Celebration Key to Nassau, according to a Carnival Cruise Line spokesperson.
The Carnival Liberty crew initiated a search effort and successfully retrieved the passenger from the water, but he did not survive, the cruise line reported in a statement.
A Carnival spokesperson said the company is providing support to the guest's family who were traveling with him, while details regarding the man's identity remain unknown.
This incident follows the death of an 88-year-old American woman on Saturday, May 9, after she lost control of her mobility scooter and fell off a pier at Celebration Key.
Recent tragedies include a female passenger who fell from a Carnival Firenze balcony last month, and a man who jumped from the Carnival Splendor near Sydney, Australia, in April.
