The Department of Homeland Security has defended the operation after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers shot and killed a man in New York City. The officers believed they, their colleagues and the public were at risk and opened fire, said Marcos Charles, deputy director of ICE's Enforcement and Removal (ERO) division.
