CPS Energy Cooperates with South Korea’s OCI, LG
- On May 26, 2025, CPS Energy, OCI Energy, and LG Energy Solution Vertech signed an MOU in Seoul to develop the Alamo City BESS project in Texas.
- The MOU followed increasing power demand in Texas and the need for energy storage to support grid reliability during peak periods.
- Alamo City BESS will feature 120 MW / 480 MWh capacity, combining advanced lithium-ion batteries and energy management technology to serve over 950,000 customers.
- OCI Energy will develop and operate the project, LG Energy Solution Vertech will supply the storage system, and CPS Energy will purchase the stored energy, targeting commercial operation in 2027.
- The project aims to enhance San Antonio's energy sustainability, increase grid security, and support economic growth while reinforcing CPS Energy's leadership in Texas energy integration.
