TEHRAN PROVINCE, IRAN, JUL 14 – Iran rejects new nuclear talks that require ending uranium enrichment, insisting on peaceful nuclear rights after Israeli strikes disrupted negotiations, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
- Israel launched surprise strikes on June 13 targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, leading to 12 days of conflict in the region.
- These strikes halted ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, which sought to revive a nuclear deal abandoned by Washington in 2018.
- On June 22, the United States conducted its own attacks targeting Iran’s nuclear sites, including the uranium enrichment center located at Fordo near Qom, as well as facilities in Isfahan and Natanz.
- Iran maintains it does not pursue nuclear weapons and has stated it will not enter talks conditioned on stopping uranium enrichment, with President Pezeshkian stressing support for diplomacy and warning of crushing retaliation against aggression.
