Norris Leads McLaren Dominance at Hungarian GP Practice | Sports-Games

HUNGARY, AUG 1 – McLaren drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri secured first and second in both sessions as Verstappen struggled with car balance and finished 14th, over one second behind Norris.

  • On Friday at the Hungaroring, Lando Norris, McLaren driver, topped FP1 with a 1:16.052 on soft tyres, while Max Verstappen was ninth for Red Bull.
  • Amid an engineering overhaul, Rob Marshall, McLaren Chief Designer, improved the team's pace, seen last year when Norris sat on pole after his hiring.
  • Dominating FP2, Norris clocked a 1m15.624s lap, lapping 0.291s faster than Oscar Piastri and coming very close to crashing during this segment.
  • Meanwhile, Verstappen faced a stewards' inquiry for discarding an object and radioed that his car was `undriveable` and unbalanced.
  • Forecasts predict mixed conditions ahead of Sunday's race, the last before August break, and closing the gap to McLaren remains extremely challenging.
