Nine Met Police officers suspended over 'discriminatory and misogynistic comments'
Nine officers at Charing Cross police station face suspension following a BBC undercover probe revealing misconduct including excessive force and discriminatory remarks, says Independent Office for Police Conduct.
- The IOPC is investigating 11 current or former Met officers and one staff member based at Charing Cross Police Station in central London over allegations including excessive use of force, discriminatory and misogynistic comments, and failing to report or challenge inappropriate behaviour.
- Nine officers were suspended within twenty-four hours and two were removed from frontline duties after the Met launched an investigation following allegations on September 9.
- The allegations, which will feature in an upcoming BBC Panorama documentary, are said to be concerning and will raise public concern especially after previous similar allegations at the same police station, according to IOPC director Amanda Rowe.
