- Applicants report being charged an additional £70 beyond official fees; one Nigerian said, "People left home as early as 5am, took time off work and travelled long distances, only to be told they couldn't be attended to."
- Nigerian Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo denied new charges exist, stating, "This process does not come with extra costs" beyond official fees of $150 and $230 for five-year and ten-year validity passports respectively.
- Describing the situation as "deplorable and wholly inadequate," Iamlyday1, a Nigerian social worker based in Manchester, criticized the government for its "persistent mistreatment" of citizens during the exercise.
- The Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are working to address inconveniences, with the government noting, "This government has demonstrated a high level of responsibility to Nigerians at home and abroad.
