Stefany Shaheen, daughter of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, wins New Hampshire House primary
On Tuesday, Stefany Shaheen won the New Hampshire Democratic 1st District primary, securing the party nomination in a close race called at around 12:30 a.m. with 87% of votes reporting.
Although Shaheen led early, the race tightened as rival Maura Sullivan challenged her establishment ties, leading to an acrimonious final stretch marked by donation disputes and aggressive advertising.
Shaheen secured 37% of the vote, narrowly defeating Sullivan's 35%, while Carleigh Beriont finished third with 22%. Nearly $740,000 of campaign funds originated from donors linked to her mother.
Following her victory, Shaheen now faces Republican nominee Anthony DiLorenzo in the general election. She stated, "It's not enough to stop Trump's damage," calling for a more motivational platform.
The contest underwent a rapid winnowing as candidate Christian Urrutia dropped out to endorse Shaheen; Sullivan continued thanking supporters Tuesday night, noting results might not be known until late.
