Nigel Farage plans to strip EU citizens of benefits to stop tax rises
Reform UK proposes saving £25 billion by cutting foreign aid, deporting foreign criminals, and ending benefits to foreign nationals to prevent tax increases on British citizens.
- Nigel Farage outlined plans by Reform UK to cut government spending by £20bn a year, including restricting universal credit to British citizens only to save £6.4bn this year.
- Reform UK also proposed capping overseas aid spending at £1bn a year, a reduction from around £14bn last year, and removing disability benefit from those with "non serious anxiety issues" to save £3.5bn annually.
- The Conservatives have set out plans to stop paying benefits to foreign nationals, while Labour criticized Reform UK's idea of reopening the Brexit deal as risking a "trade war with Europe".
