NHAI project director arrested: CBI alleges Rs 12 lakh bribe demand to clear contractor's bill

The CBI has apprehended the NHAI Project Director in Shillong, Aanand Singh Chouhan, along with two private individuals, for allegedly demanding a Rs 12 lakh bribe. The bribe was sought to clear a contractor's pending payment of Rs 13.38 crore. An initial Rs 4 lakh advance was caught red-handed during a sting operation, leading to the arrests and ongoing investigations.

Shillong, July 6: The state has apprised  the High Court of Meghalaya regarding the stress of NHAI official Anand Singh Chauhan for allegedly taking bribe.
