New Zealand squad for West Indies ODI series: Duffy returns, Conway rested
Jacob Duffy returns and uncapped Matt Fisher joins a squad missing several senior quicks as New Zealand manages workloads and player availability.
New Zealand named their ODI squad for the five-match West Indies series on Wednesday, featuring reigning player of the year Jacob Duffy's return and debutant Matt Fisher's first call-up.
Northern Districts speedster Fisher earned his first call-up after taking 43 wickets from 25 matches at an average of 26 in list A cricket. Coach Rob Walter noted Fisher's ability to bowl with good pace at different stages of the innings.
Nathan Smith returns to the pace attack after taking 16 wickets at an average of 23 in the recent England series, joining Ben Sears and Duffy. Mitchell Santner continues as white-ball captain.
Key bowlers Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, and Will O'Rourke are resting following heavy workload, while Blair Tickner is unavailable due to ankle surgery and Rachin Ravindra will participate in Major League Cricket.
The five-match series begins July 12 at Guyana National Stadium, with matches continuing in Guyana before the tour concludes with the 4th and 5th ODI at Kensington Oval in Barbados on July 20 and July 22.
