NYS declares burn ban in wake of wildfires, dry conditions

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul has issued a statewide burn ban in effect until Nov. 30, as wildfires continue to rage throughout parts of New York and New Jersey.Residents are urged not to use fire in outdoor areas and to use extreme caution when grilling, Hochul announced in a statement Tuesday. Grill use has been completely banned in New York City parks.
