Verizon's New Loyalty Program Rewards Existing Customers Alongside New 'Simplicity' Plan

Verizon is waiving activation and upgrade fees for loyalty members and offering 3% back in Verizon Dollars, plus prizes and partner redemptions.

  • Verizon launched the Simplicity Plan today, a $45 monthly mobile service offer dropping to $30 for new customers, alongside the new Verizon Shine loyalty program to reward existing subscribers.
  • Nancy Clark, Verizon's chief product and revenue officer, said the carrier aims to "break some of the norms that are in the industry overall" by eliminating activation and upgrade fees for loyalty members.
  • Subscribers earn 3% back in Verizon Dollars monthly, redeemable at partners including Sephora and Starbucks, while a new Verizon One bundle combines home and mobile internet for $70.
  • To promote these changes, Verizon reunited the Austin Powers cast, including Mike Myers as Dr. Evil, and the cast of telenovela "Yo Soy Betty, la Fea" for campaigns kicking off Tuesday.
  • Verizon Shine offers weekly "daily drops" and prize draws, including breakfast with David Beckham, as the program launches with approximately 40 partners to incentivize long-term subscriber retention.
