New prosecutor to take on Georgia election case against Trump and others
Pete Skandalakis appointed himself to lead Georgia's racketeering case against Trump after no other prosecutor accepted the role following DA Willis's disqualification.
- On Nov. 14, 2025, Peter J. Skandalakis, Executive Director, Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, appointed himself replacement prosecutor to keep the Fulton County case alive.
- A Georgia appeals court found Willis's relationship with her special prosecutor problematic, disqualifying Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after revealing a romantic link with Nathan Wade, including joint travel and payments.
- The case file contains 101 banker boxes and an eight-terabyte hard drive, and the indictment charges President Donald J. Trump and 18 co-defendants with racketeering; four co-defendants pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
- Judge Scott McAfee scheduled a December 1 hearing, where Skandalakis must decide whether to continue, amend, or dismiss charges, with Sadow stating `We remain confident that a fair and impartial review will lead to a dismissal of the case against President Trump`.
- The pardons affect federal but not state proceedings, and whether President Donald J. Trump can be tried in state court remains unresolved, possibly facing U.S. Supreme Court resistance.
